I'm thinking butterflied leg of lamb. But not sure about sides. Ideally nothing that has to be done last minute.....any ideas? Or alternative mains.

Great idea to do butterflied lamb. For sides I'd do grilled veg (aubergine, peppers, courgettes), grilled halloumi and a number of different meze and salads with a sort of Middle Eastern theme that can all be made ahead. I have a lot of the Ottolenghi cookbooks so I'd probably do:
Charred cauliflower salad
Roast cherry tomatoes on lemon yoghurt
Hummus with smoked paprika
Tzatziki
Fattoush salad

Add in flatbreads/pitta and a dessert of oranges with mint or baked figs in wine with some Greek yoghurt and you'll be all set.

We’ve recently discovered barbecued lamb and it’s so good!

This one is Greek style www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2220672/barbecued-greek-lamb-with-tzatziki Serves 6. We serve it with the tzatziki, humous, and warm pitta breads. I’d do these bbq falafel www.femalefirst.co.uk/foodanddrink/summer-recipes-bbq-falafel-299838.html and this Greek butter bean salad www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2014/06/greek-butter-bean-salad-tomatoes-dill-recipe.html

If you want a more Middle Eastern slant, I’d serve it with a couscous salad, flatbread, falafel, tzatziki, hummus and red cabbage slaw www.waitrose.com/home/recipes/recipe_directory/r/red-cabbage-coleslawwithmiddleeasternspices.html Fattoush is a green salad that works well with lamb www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/fattoush

Ive also done it Indian! www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/531671/indian-spiced-barbecued-lamb Serve with pickled red onion, mango chutney, raita, warm chipatis and this recipe for Indian summer greens www.harighotra.co.uk/indian-summer-greens-recipe you could also serve paneer skewers www.bbc.com/food/recipes/paneerandvegetablesk_86440 and this chickpea salad www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/punjabi-style-chickpea-salad

Lamb was what I was going to suggest from your title!

Serve it with jewelled couscous which you can easily prepare earlier.

Thank you. That’s exactly the kind of things I was looking for.
