Just touched down in Paphos, Cyprus and can’t sleep. Not sure whether it’s the loud air con system or the dread of the Lidl trip tomorrow.
In the past on self catering/b&b holidays I’ve ate out every meal but this year the budget is tighter and, in all honesty, we’ve realised how excessive eating out three times a day is.
We are still eating out for our evening meal so it’s more of a treat and going to sort our own breakfast and lunch.
Breakfast I’m thinking omelettes because they’re quick and filling. Will probably pick up some fruits and croissants as well.
For lunch though I’m a bit stuck. Don’t want to be doing too much “proper” cooking so was thinking along the sandwiches or pasta line? Also will there be Tupperware in Lidl? I forgot to bring some and thought I could pre make lunch to bring out if we’re out and about for the day?

They will have plastic tubs, yes. You can still make Cypriot cuisine and enjoy it as part of your holiday. Think of putting mezze together for lunch: grilled halloumi, cured pork (they do this with red wine in Cyprus), grilled vegetables, hummus and fresh bread. Try stuffing dry anari into pastries with sesame seeds and bake them in the oven - delicious morning treat we enjoy in Israel. Chop up tomatoes, cucumber, shallot, parsley and grate some feta (harden it in the freezer for ten minutes) with squeezed lemons for a side salad. We tend to like a grapefruit juice with this, it’s sourness is refreshing in the heat. Hope this helps!
