Soup maker

I've always thought a soup maker was a waste of money (I have a pan!) But recently I've been wondering if there actually a good idea. I want to make a healthy soup and have just made a large batch of tomato and veg - some of which I will need to blend for kids as they don't like lumps! Would a soup maker mean I could quickly do a batch of smooth soup with no need to blend. More stuff on the kitchen worktop though!

I find a stick blender is the best option. I had a soup maker and it took up a lot of space, and was harder to wash than a pan and the stick blender. I donated it to the charity shop in the end

Thanks- I was thinking the last thing I need is another gadget. I do have a stick blender but it always spatters me with soup. Maybe and apron would be a better investment!
