....and I have no idea what to do! My daughter is hosting a cake sale in a month for charity. She is making all the smaller cupcakes, cookies, etc with my supervision but I thought if I made a larger, more showy cake, she could sell raffle tickets for it
as an extra fundraiser.
I am a fairly confident amateur baker and would happily give most things a go.
I have tried Pinterest but things are either too birthday party themed or really too professional for me to try. Or they are lovely but there's no link to a recipe!
If any of you can help with ideas/pictures/recipe links I would really appreciate it! Thanks

would this link work? best of luck x

Ooh that one looks amazing!! I quite like making meringues.
I think I may have a practise with Swiss meringue frosting over the weekend as I keep seeing it everywhere.
Thanks for the link.
Another thing I meant to add was a cake that could be frozen would be even more ideal as I'll probably be spending most of the day before my DD in check when she decorates her cupcakes!

KitKat cakes usually look good.
I fill with smarties, but I've seen it done with white and milk chocolate buttons to make flowers, or fruit.
Have a look at Google images.

I've made this before & got loads of compliments. You can fully cover it in icing if you like, maybe in a neapolitan effect?

This looks amazing, I've just saved it and plan to make it for the kids this week... sallysbakingaddiction.com/checkerboard-cake/

Thanks all... I have seen a few on the Jane's patisserie website that look good. I think I might do a practise run first though!

If your baking can include nuts then I made something similar to this recently for a charity cake sale realfood.tesco.com/recipes/pomegranate-cake.html
It was one of the easiest cakes I've ever made, looked great and tasted absolutely amazing.

Just thought I'd pop back and show a pic of the raffle cake. Ended up making a lemon and elderflower cake. I have a layer left over and it was pretty scrummy! Thanks for all your ideas.
