Oven temperature

In baking it might read; when temperature is 200 place item in for 20 minutes. But when I open the door the temp drops significantly. Do I keep baking longer to compensate or should I turn the temperature up?

Sorry about this but I'm new and 67 yrs old, worse still I'm a bloke!

Don't fling the door open. Do not raise the temperature - it doesn't take long to go back, as long as you're not causing a draft or leaving it open too long. You do literally "pop" things into the oven. Sometimes things take a little longer than the recipe says. A skewer inserted into the cake will come out clean if the cake's ready.

No. Just as it says. When the oven reaches the required temperature, chuck it in for the time stated. In the nicest possible way, you are overthinking it. Baking is a science, it's meant to be precise, you just need to follow the instructions exactly. Hope it turns out well!

Oh, and nobody on here minds that you are a bloke, MN is for everyone.
