Hello all, I am hoping to get suggestions here. My 7& half-year-old so recently started having tummy pain after having milk (he likes milk a lot). So I had to stop giving him milk which means he had to stop having cereal in the morning. He now has bagel for breakfast but always wanting milk. I am wondering if there is a substitute for milk that won't hurt his tummy like the everyday pasteurised cow milk which is giving tummy pain.

Oatly full fat or Oatly barista are good alternatives to have on cereal.

It depends if it's cows milk protein allergy or lactose intolerance. You can get lacto free milk, but that's no good for an allergy. Otherwise there are countless milk alternatives in the supermarkets.

Have you had him tested and diagnosed?

It is worth seeing your GP and seeing if it is an actual allergy/intolerance to dairy or just lactose and perhaps discuss calcium supplements if it is an allergy

Soya milk is the closest thing nutrition wise (certainly when it comes to protein and fat content) to cow's milk and is widely available - do make sure you get one that is fortified with vitamins though (Vitamin D, A & B12
