Hi, I'm wondering if anybody can recommend a recipe for a 9x13 tray which is a moist chocolate cake? It's to make into a birthday cake for my son's birthday next week. The plan is to make two, buttercream around it etc so it can be decorated to look like a football pitch. Have tried a couple so far and they've been a bit dry.

Thanks in advance

Nigella's old-fashioned chocolate cake, or sour cream chocolate cake, is really moist. You'd need to convert quantities as it's a round 8 inch cake in two layers, but it tastes great.

Mary Berry's Can't Go Wrong Chocolate Cake is a brilliant recipe. It always works for me. What doesn't work is my hyperlink below!

Mary Berry's. You can't beat it. I make it almost every week for various people and it never goes wrong and doesn't last long!

I don't always use that icing, I use whatever I fancy.
