Smoothies for weight loss

I've heard even though they're full of fruit they'll make you fat as they're full of too much sugar 😢

Can anyone recommend a smoothie I can make that tastes nice and can help me lose weight? The smoothie would be classed as part of a breakfast a couple of times per week.

Thanks!

The thing with smoothies is that they break down the fibre in the fruit and make the sugar more easily/quickly absorbed by the body - so you don't get the same benefits as you would if you were to eat the whole fruit. Also, how many people would actually eat the amount of fruit that they put in their smoothie if it was whole?
They are fine once in a while but not great every day - like most things it's all about moderation.

If this is going to be part of breakfast (i.e. not breakfast in itself) then a) it depends on what else you are having and b)what your requirements are in terms of lifestyle

To keep the calories and the sugar down I would probably go for a veg based one like thiswww.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/vitamin-booster-smoothie or www.besthealthmag.ca/best-eats/recipes/shape-shifter-smoothie/

It's true, smoothies increase your insulin which is the driver for gaining fat. Keep your insulin levels low, eat an egg or two instead.

Oh and the only thing that will make you fat is eating more calories than you are using in day - it doesn't matter whether those calories come from carbs, fat, protein, sugar....
You could just be eating broccoli - but if the calorific value of the amount you consume is more than your body needs then you'll gain weight
