I'd like to do this but not sure on timings because the tatties will take longer than the mince.

Have any of you done this?

“Stovies” auto correct 😬

I make them about once a month in the IP now. Soooo quick, stovies used to be special occasions here because it took so long but not now. 👍🏻

Do you just sauté your onions then chuck everything in?
I was going to do that then high pressure for 8mins?

Nope, beef fat melted on sauté setting then layer up the raw onions, sliced potatoes, shredded beef.
I’ve found Maris pipers the best (most consistent)
Salt on every layer of potatoes.
Water, close, 8mins on high pressure

Starrynight you’re right as far as I am concerned. Mary’s stories were renowned in a northern Scottish village where my dad used to holiday as a child and bought a pub by the bay.
Left over roast lamb from the Sunday Roast was Stovies on Monday rarely any left on Tuesday. Corned beef is Corned Beef Hash! Mince is Mince and Tatties with turnip which was also on the menu in winter along with two huge pans of broth every day. A lot of local work man used to nip in for a warm by the big log fire, bowl of broth and a pint. A lot of business went on too. Working out rotas of work.

We haven’t got an instant pot but DS3 received one yesterday and is delighted.
