I keep peering at these big weird fruits, they look like porcupines, and are bigger than footballs. Not sure what they are.

Also, there are strange little root veg, that look all scaly.

Any ideas? Any fruit or veg that you keep seeing, but don't know what they are?

I dunno ... DH is quite posh, particularly for around here.

And he won't do it, anyway, I just asked. If I sent him to get coriander or parsley, he always hates asking, feels mocked for it, and comes back in a mood.

He's muttering about some website that will tell me.

God,that is really sad.

We grew up abroad in a very multi cultural setting so I always saw my parents asking Thais/Philippinos/Iranians/Chinese about their food and how to cook it,to the extend that meat & two veg was alien to us.

Are there foreign mothers at your kid's schools?
Ask them !

No bengali mums at my kids' schools etc.

DH doesn't like asking about food, really.

Yeah, exactly.

Actually, one of my local friends has her DDs at a school that is 95% Bengali, I can ask her.
