biscuit base, without biscuits

I am avoiding palm oil, all digestive biscuits have palm oil in so...

i want to make a biscuit base from scratch.

Can I just use a digestive biscuit recipe and use it like pastry?

I am not sure as you can't cut a digestive with a knife so will that work.

will I have to make biscuits them smash them up like normal?

Would shortbread work instead?

Is it for a cheesecake? You can make a base with nuts.

It is for set strawberry mouse that we decided last time would be lovely on a base.
nuts are interesting, but not do-able at this time.

Use other biscuits that don’t have palm oil in them, surely there are still some around?

If not, then yes, you’ll have to make biscuits, to break biscuits if you want a biscuit base... and no, making a ‘large’ biscuit for s base wouldn’t be the same at all.

Make shortbread. Part bake, then cool, top and finish baking, or completely bake then top with a fridge set mix.

Friend of mine makes something similar using cornflakes or Rice Krispies crushed up- stirred in melted butter/marg with syrup and sugar. Would that work?

Of make a shortbread base similar to what you would use with millionaire shortbread ?

Are you sure the mousse won’t make the biscuit soggy?

Maybe crumble smashed up biscuits over the mousse?

There’s a good recipe for digestives on JamieOliver.com.
I’ve used it before and it tells you how to make it as a pie base.
