New Neff Cicotherm oven

Hi. Bought the above recently. I'm having a little trouble- what to place where. Instructions say things like on third shelf etc. Is that thirdshelf from top or bottom?! My roasties are rubbish. Please can someone help. Thanks!!!

I've got a Neff.
Shelf 1 is the bottom Shelf 4 is top.
They don't recommend using shelf 2 when using the fan and I did so by mistake, didn't work.
I tend to use 1 and 3 for nearly everything.
