I'm making a recipe with passata tonight, have all the marvellous ingredients except for....the flamin' passata Can I cobble something together with tinned tomatoes/tomato puree?

Blitz tinned toms with tom puree to a smooth paste.

so...I was thinking drain tinned tomatoes, whizz in blender and add a bit of puree, does that sound about right?

either used chopped tinned toms and accept it'll be lumpier, or whizz 'em till smooth
no need for puree I don't think

drain (reserve juice), whizz and assess texture
if too thick add juice
if too thin add puree
