Some kind of vegan alternative to pulled pork? What is it exactly - is it actually some kind of fruit? Just saw it in my local supermarket and was curious.

Yes, a fruit that when cooked in bbq looks similar to pulled pork. Tastes a bit like Apple. It's nice! Texture not so similar to meat, but it does look fairly like it!

It is a giant fig. Well it is the same family but it grows up to 50+ Kg

It's definitely not a good alternative protein to meat though - it's very low in protein

used in vegan 'fish' dishes as well

Yes it’s literally a fruit. Ripened it tastes sweet and fruity, but unripened (young green jackfruit) it doesn’t really taste of anything but takes on flavour well and has a similar texture to pulled pork. Good for cooking up like bbq pulled pork without a dead animals
