SD253 Breadmaker: Granary recipe error

Started to make Granary bread using my SD253. It's nearly 20 years old.
Results were dreadful.
Bought a new modern Panasonic machine. Success.

But, the old recipe book prescribes 1 tbsp of sugar, whereas the new manual prescribes 1 tsp of sugar. Teaspoons, NOT tablespoons.

Makes a big difference.

Anybody else notice this?

Funnily enough I made granary bread overnight in my £10 second hand Panasonic bread maker. I can't comment on the older machines recipes, but I'm impressed with the machine and the results. I've neither the time nor the inclination to master breadmaking by hand Smile

I never need to add sugar to my Panasonic bread recipes. I use half the suggested amount of yeast too, a half teaspoon. Any more and the bread would be climbing out of the pan.

I look forward to trying less yeast and no sugar.
