Mussels- ready cleaned?

Thinking of making mussels but last time they took hours to clean (bought in France but I don’t think that’ll make a difference).
Is it possible to buy cleaned ones you then make your own sauce for or do you have to buy them in those vacuum packs with pre made sauce??
And any general mussel musings welcome!

I think the ones Waitrose sell in jets are already cleaned. I’ve used them several times before and don’t remember them needing much cleaning!

Waitrose sell vacuum packed ones - in natural juice as well as the sort in butter/cream - and they are delicious

I know they also sell raw ones - as do Sainsbury's but not sure if they are pre-cleaned.....is there a fishmonger near you?

Great thank you. We’ve got a Waitrose with a counter so can check out 2 options there. There is a fishmonger but I assumed they’d be beardy still!
