Anyone even had it ever?

Was it deliciously yummy?

....Heave....

We used to feed it to our dogs

It stinks

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 21:43

They're making chocolate souffle now, presumably to take away the taste of the tripe.

Bit self-consciously cool, this programme - 'do what you want while the souffle's cooking, have sex....'

Is this the height of efficiency, or absolute laziness to be watching tv and mumsnetting at the same time!!?? ok, i was watching it too. Anyone find it vaguely ironic that you cannot eat your dinner while watching The f word??? !!

FullyQualifiedPaediatrician · 03/07/2007 21:46

Bleurghhhhhh!

daisyandbabybootoo · 03/07/2007 21:46

apparently i used to eat it when i was little.....i was obviously so scarred by the memory that i've developed selective amnesia

my dad used to eat it and i can still smell it when i think about it...VOM

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 21:47

I am breastfeeding too [proud]

At least dh is not watching - he always watches 2 programmes at once because he gets bored with just one

Turkey thing is good.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 21:48

Daisy what does it smell like?

OP posts:
Hathor · 03/07/2007 21:56

What horrified me is that after boiling it at the tripe processing place they bleach it! Gord didn't bat an eyelid at this.. reckons its delish.
Thought it was like eating a flannel me-self.

Hathor · 03/07/2007 21:56

Sod it bleach it

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 22:03

Yeah but he loves showing how hard he is and eating tripe is part of that, I reckon

OP posts:
Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 22:03

bleach and all

OP posts:
Nightynight · 03/07/2007 22:16

it is nice, actually. I have tried my children with it a few times, but they arent having any of it.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 22:18

You're a lone voice crying in the wilderness, Nightynight

How do you cook it?
(I will try anything once!)

OP posts:
Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 22:19

you know, that would have been a good one to post on the 'what have you done that most of your generation haven't?' thread - eaten tripe and liked it!

OP posts:
Chelseamum · 03/07/2007 22:20

I do I do!!! I is lovely with a fab spicy tomatoe sauce! I was dribbling this eve....

Bring back the tripe!

Nightynight · 04/07/2007 07:37
  1. tripe and onions
2. with red wine in a med style soup
Kathyis6incheshigh · 04/07/2007 09:59

Thank you Nighty - I will put the latter on my list of things to eat when dh goes away.

I gagged when that came on last night!
I bought and boiled it for my boxer once years ago and could not imagine ever being able to handle the stuff ever agian.

TinyGang · 04/07/2007 10:07

Tripe... OMG I don't think I could get within 10 yards of it. Who, I wonder was the first person ever to think 'Hmm, now that looks tasty. All I need to do is boil it, bleach it...'? Aaargh.

What are those other things...is it chitlins? No no no!!

halogen · 05/07/2007 21:32

Tripe is really nice. I cook it in a tomato sauce with garlic etc and it's delicious.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 05/07/2007 21:37

Good lord, another pro-tripe-ist.
I'm going to have to try it now

OP posts:
winestein · 05/07/2007 21:39

Moondog likes it.
Random fact I remember.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 05/07/2007 21:40

I will ask her about it next time I see her.
I rate Moondog's opinion on food.

TRipe is lining of cows stomach isn't it?

My Mum has a phrase she uses when something is shit - "That's a load of tripe that is"

Anyone else heard of this?

TrinityRhino · 05/07/2007 21:42

What is tripe?
