Substituting one gluten-free flour for another?

Hi!

If I have a cake recipe and it says to use gluten-free plain flour, could I use gluten-free self-raising flour instead? I was thinking I might need to omit the bicarbonate of soda from the ingredients list if I'm using self-raising?

Thank you. 😊
