I've never cooked lamb, bar in a curry. Words of advice welcome. Please let me know your idiot proof recipes

I've only ever cooked them with a recipe from Jamie Oliver's first Naked Chef cookbook. It's an oldie but a goodie (and although it looks like lots of ingredients it's easy to put together and lots of them are spices you'll use in other things)

Mine is very simple.

Pierce the shanks and stick garlic cloves and rosemary into the holes.

Brown off in a sauté pan

Place a few layers of sliced peeled potatoes and onions on the base of the slow cooker, (you could add carrots, swede, celery)

Put the lamb shanks on top and pour lamb stock and a splash of red wine.

Leave to slow cook for about 6 hours.

I follow Nigel Slater's recipe - super simple www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/jan/05/nigel-slater-lamb-shanks-recipe
