I have just cooked a large gammon joint in my new slow cooker
Not eaten any yet but it looks superb. I decided that as it was the first time I would just use water in the pot as I wanted to see what the flavour and texture would be like before I get fancy.
Upshot is I now have a half full pot of gammon stock that I would like to use rather than waste, I soaked the gammon first for a bit and have tasted the stock and it isn't at all salty - it is however full of flavour
Never made soup before but I was thinking something like leek and potato might be nice. Does the veg thicken the soup or does something else have to be added to thicken?
I think I would like to make a smooth soup but only have a stick blender, will that do it?
Any suggestions for a soup that would work better with gammon stock please. TIA.
