Hand mixers

Hi All, I don't bake, have no clue, but my daughter is keen to try. She's 10. I don't want to spend too much on a fancy mixer if this turns out to be a passing fad, would a hand held mixer do to start?
Thanks for any advice!

Yes, definitely. I bake fairly regularly and only use a hand mixer. Although, when my old one broke, I didn't replace it for a while and just used a lot of elbow power. After that, a hand mixer makes everything seem easy-peasy. The reason I don't have a counter-top mixer seem to have enough cupboard space in the kitchen (must clear out soon) and I don't like leaving stuff out.

Thanks for your reply pippistrelle. That's reassuring to know, a good point about finding somewhere to store a stand mixer too, if I had one on display it would need to be pretty Blush
We shall start off with a handheld mixer and see how we do......
Thank you again!

Just make sure the butter is soft, that's my tip!

I've used a £15 hand mixer from Sainsbury's for years. It's never let me down.
I keep looking at fancy counter-top mixers but they take up too much worktop space.

Thanks for the top tip pippistrelle!

That's good to know twilight, my bank account will be much happier with that kind of price.

Also recommend not just butter at room temperature but eggs to when baking
