Fruit salad ingredients...

Have been asked to help with a buffet by contributing a fruit salad.
But it will need to be chopped the night before, then travel in car and sit in boot for a few hours before it goes back in a fridge and I'm a bit worried it won't be great for all the sitting around.
Any tips on fruit that will stay nice and work well together? Am guessing hard fruits but all I can think of are pineapple and melon...
Thanks... x

Oranges, pears, mango, kiwi, peaches, grapes I love banana in them too, but they go squishy and not nice quite quickly, so you will probably have to leave them out.

No bananas in that scenario!

You can do apples if you toss the pieces in lemon juice - stops them from going brown. Same with pear. Mango is a great idea.

Can you use a cool bag and ice packs for the journey?

Grapes of both colours, apple if you can cover it with enough juice.

Yum I want some fruit salad now.

This reminded me of my dearly missed grandmother. Her fruit salad was 2 tins of fruit cocktail, a tin of peaches and a tin of mandarin oranges. Served in its syrup with tiptop cream. If the recipients are over 90 I'd try the tinned route. They'll love it.

Thanks - off to supermarket now!
Thinking grapes and mango...
If any of my family are on mumsnet they are going to recognise this salad!!!
No plus 90's - not sure the retro tinned fruit salad would go down well with the crowd!!!

Why not buy the fruit and assemble the salad when you arrive. It doesn't take long to chop stuff - especially if there are other people about to help. (Vitamin content will be much higher and stuff won't go mushy or discolour.)

I love lychees in a fruit salad
