Not a Kitchenaid...

I’ve decided I can’t justify a Kitchenaid. Has anyone got a stand mixer they love that’s less ridiculously expensive?

My k mix is the best thing I ever bought. still expensive but not as bad as a kitchenenaid and it's supposed to actually be better

I've got a Kenwood Chef. I checked reviews, etc and decided the KitchenAid was style over substance and didn't justify the high price.

Kenwood mixer every time. Look at eBay and get a second hand one for not much. They last forever.

Kenwood Chef hands down. KA premium is because it is a US import. In the US the Kenwood Chef attracts the same premium as the KA does here.

I have both and the Chef is much better engineered.

People who are recommending their mixers- do the beaters get right down to the bottom of the bowl? My current one doesn’t- it’s very annoying!

Kenwood chef. Beater height is adjustable. I made mine lower so that it reached the very bottom of the bowl.

Love my kenwood. Hoping to inherit my mother’s and my granny’s kenwoods one day. I love the style, and they last for decades.

Can anyone explain the difference between a K mix and Kenwood chef please? I'm looking to buy one but can't decide which. Will use for bread a couple if times a week and cakes too - ideally looking for one where the bowl isn't too heavy

Kenwood chef here too! Would definitely recommend and as PP said, adjustable height for the mixer

I think the motor is much larger in a chef compared to a K mix, and as you plan on doing dough regularly then I’d go for the chef. Mine has a plastic bowl, it’s pretty light.

look at the wattage. for bread dough you need ideally 700w

So if you don't need it for bread dough, just cake mixes, icing, creaming butter and sugar etc. - what sort of wattage would be ok?

I was looking at a Kenwood chef and a Bosch mixer recently and wasn't sure whether a lower powered machine would be ok.

I'm unlikely to use it for bread as I use a bread machine. I'd just like to save my arms a bit and I'd like a mixer with a cover to save a bit of mess while mixing. Grin

there was a shopping program on recently and the aldi stand mixer came out top think it was about £80. Or 2nd hand kenwood chef from ebat/facebook market place

Best mixer I've ever used was a Metcalfe SM-7 mixer.

I bought a kitchenaid for £299 last year so you may want to wait for good deals. It is great!
