Ham in slow cooker with sugar Help!

ok I have 1.5kg ham, no oven but a slow cooker.

Could I use light muscovado instead of dark brown sugar ? Its all I have.

How long would I cook 1.5kg for ? On low or high ?

Will it carve into slices or just disintegrate into shreds ? Ideally I want to serve it with a cold buffet tomorrow.

My oven packed up on Christmas day, thankfully after dinner was cooked.

Do you have any orange juice? Just put the ham in the slow cooker with a bit in the bottom. Or coke, that would work too. Or cider!

And I’d put it on low for about 10 hours

Dark sugar is better but muscovado will be ok. Leave it on for as long as possible (8 or 9 hours). It will fall apart and shred rather than slice but will be absolutely delicious.

We cooked ours in the slow cooker in cola, with cinnamon and sliced onions.

Should I shred it when it's done or leave it to go cold ?

Last time I had ham which shredded it went really hard very quickly.

I don't have any coke unfortunately. Just loads of muscovado sugar!

Actually I have about 1 litre of coke but a giant slow cooker.

I'd go and buy some coke and boil it. We did ours on Christmas Eve and then topped with a muscovado syrup once it had cooled a little. Delicious yum

Oh forgot the onion - added to the coke chopped into quarters.

If it's for a buffet tomorrow I would put it on last thing before you go up to bed tonight and let it cook overnight.

Drain it off in the morning and shred when it is still warm.

If you cook it now... Will be cooked in 5 hours..
Leave to go cold it will then slice.

I cooked a smaller ham overnight on xmas eve in the slow cooker, with soft brown sugar and maple syrup... it was on low for 8 hrs and was still slice-able, didn't shred at all
