Can you make a white sauce and add your grated cheese? Or do you have any cream and you could make a creamy cheese sauce?

nailpolish · 26/06/2007 16:05

do you want a recipe for cheese sauce?

is the chicken raw or cooked?

j20baby · 26/06/2007 16:10

chicken is cooked, i've only got self raising flower and squirty cream

erm a tin of Campbell's condensed soup?

always good in an emergency!

chopster · 26/06/2007 16:12

Your eally need plain flour for cheese sauce. If you've passata and stock, and some herbs and spices, you can make a lovely mildly spiced tomato sauce for pasta.

j20baby · 26/06/2007 16:12

no soup, apart from tomato, was just going to make a chicken and leek soup, but fancy pasta

Do you have any mayo? I often make pasta sauces from it. Warm through and add the flavours you want - although I've never tried it with grated cheese in the sauce.

nailpolish · 26/06/2007 16:14

i would cook the pasta, put it in a dish with the chicken, semicooked leek and drained tin of sweetcorm, cover in cheese sauce and sprinkle some cheese over the top and bung in oven for 20-30 mins

ta da

chicken pasta bake

j20baby · 26/06/2007 16:16

nailpolish-thats what i thought but no cheese sauce

mayo-hmm, not tried that one.

I'm doing chicken pasta bake tonight too. Sliced cooked chicken, tinned tomatoes, celery salt & herbs, handful of mixed vegetables & cooked pasta. Bung it all in pyrex dish, mix it around and throw grated cheese on top, fling it in the oven for half an hour and serve with garlic bread
I suppose it could be done with cheese sauce instead of tinned tomatoes

witchandchips · 26/06/2007 16:21

you could put the pasta in the soup like a kind of minestrone - i'd give the sweetcorn a miss though
or you could mix the chicken with mayonaise and sweetcorn and cold pasta to make a chicken pasta salad

nailpolish · 26/06/2007 16:21

ive never used sr flour for a sauce
id probably try tho

nailpolish · 26/06/2007 16:21

have you got like a dressing lke balsamic vinegar or even a really nice olive oil?

j20baby · 26/06/2007 16:23

ok thanks guys, will let you know what i end up doing, i've got tinned tomato's but i'm a bit off tomato -y stuff at the minute.

I've used SR flour for a sauce and don't remember it being a problem

AlbusPercivalWulfricBrianSun · 26/06/2007 16:25

Well I would fry leak. Warm chicken and sweetcorn with mayo. Maybe add a bit of lemon juice, or tabasco for kick. Add to pasta. I'd probably leave out the cheese.

j20baby · 26/06/2007 16:31

found a jar of tomato pasta sauce in the cupboard, isn't making me feel ill yet, so am going to use that, probably wont bother putting leeks or sweetcorn in now
