Bombay Mix

An Asian colleague of mine one bought in Bombay mix for us all to have at lunch time. It was years ago now. It was a bag of Bombay mix, and she added all sorts of herbs to it, pomegranate seeds, some sort of dressing... it was soooooo fresh and delicious. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and how I can recreate it?

Bombay mix (ready bought) cubed boiled potatoes, finely chopped onion, yoghurt, tamarind chutney, green chilli and coriander chutney, pomegranate seeds, all mixed together. Yum!

That's my version, every family makes it differently.

forgot chopped fresh coriander

I once made a starter similar to that. I don't know where I got the recipe from though.

Is it something like this dimsum?

dimsum123 · 15/12/2018 15:37

Yes!

CurlsLDN · 15/12/2018 15:41

Was going to suggest that it sounds like Bel purhi

I really fancy making this now. Where can I buy puffed rice? Aren't rice Krispies too sweet for a replacement?

try an indian/ethnic shop/grocer if you have one near you. But much easier to buy a bag of bombay mix, an Indian shop will have more authentic ones than tesco.

@dimsum123 thank you - you're the best!

Sadly, I live nowhere near any ethnic shops. I buy my Bombay Mix from Holland and Barrett or Tesco. We don't like the Cofresh brand as it is too hot.

mrsseashell, you're most welcome!

@dimsum123 That sounds fab. Are these chutneys homemade? If so, can you please share the recipe?

TIA

This sounds like something we'd love.
