How long can I keep veg warm for?

I am having family round for a pre-Christmas meal. Doing a traditional roast and veg meal. The meat will be cooked and be happy wrapped in foil to keep warm I think but I wonder, if I cook the veg a bit ahead how long can I keep them warm in one of those electric hostess things? I have one but have hardly ever used it. Normally I time things to be ready when I want them but some of the guests are travelling a fair distance so we don't know exactly when they will arrive and want to wait until they get here before we eat.

Won't it tell you in your user manual re timings?
Or go online to see about your particular make of hostess trolley.

I would think anywhere up to 2 hours, but am definitely not an expert as the one my mum had was very last century!

Or - Could you microwave the veg - or some of it - when your guests are about ready to eat?
