Cake flavours for baby's first birthday

I'm planning on making a character cake for DS's first birthday. Normally i'd use Madeira as it's the most solid, but i want to do something a little different less boring.

Give me your suggestions for the baby-friendly flavours you would liked to have had at parties (please).

Erm.... for a first birthday, it doesn't need to be 'baby-friendly flavoured' though, does it, as it will be the adults you invite that eat it.

I made a chocolate beetroot cake for DS first birthday and he absolutely loved it. Very little sugar, no eggs, and adults and kids liked it.

backforgood pretty sure DS is gonna be eating some - as will his cousins.
