Is it o.k. to ask for a restaurant curry to be made hotter ?

We are going for curry at work next week - we do it from time to time and I apsolutely love it.
I really like creamy curries, rather than tomatoey based ones. But in their nature, they have very little heat / zing.
Is it just-being-a-pain-in-the-ass to ask for it to be made hotter ? Should I ask for more chilli ?
AIBU ?

Best way is to ask for a little dish of chopped fresh chillies that you can scatter on at will.

Thanks Moondog - I will ask for that.
Mind you, won't that make it a bit too hot - I only want a little bit of zing - can't they add some sort of paste to the cream ?

they will spit in it and make you shit for three weeks through the eye of a needle

My brother does this all the time. But he does it with the ones that are already very hot! Mad man!

CountessDracula · 21/06/2007 16:54

i do that, but my point is actually, WHY WHY WHY did you mention the C word, i really really want one now and the chances of me getting one - zero!

lucyellensmum · 21/06/2007 17:15

i have to say though, that i dont think the creamy curries lend themselves to being hotter, i used to do it with pasanda and it never really worked, i like lamb bhuna or rogan josh, excuse my spelling - not mad hot like the vindaloos or anything like that but enough of a kick and nice a rich too. Oh god, i want curry

Oblomov · 21/06/2007 17:29

why are unable to have one lucy ?
and that was my original point of posting - the fact that I like them creamy, lends itslef to them being weak, but I like a bit of heat aswell - not too much though.

Chopped chilli is a good idea!

lucyellensmum · 22/06/2007 15:45

just that hubby doesnt like it much any more, but i shouldnt complain as we were at wagamammas last night, not quite the same though is it.

LilRedWG · 22/06/2007 15:50

Yep, Oblomov. When you order, say that you'd like XXXX but can they make it quite hot please. If they look at you oddly (which they won't) just explain that you like creamy hotish curries

Oblomov · 22/06/2007 15:54

And ask them to add some heat alongside the... spit ?
