How to best keep fish and chips

Got fish and chips from the van.
Wrapped in paper.

Not eating until nearly 7pm.
Leave them in the paper?
Plate up, leave out and warm up later?
Plate up and leave in warm oven?
Something else?

I don't have a microwave or Aga!

HELP!

On baking tray in a warm oven

I’d go for baking tray in the oven.
Why do you have to wait till 7? I’d be tempted to eat mine now, seems silly to get them so early.

Chewbecca · 20/11/2018 17:56

Eat them now!

My fish and chip shop guy says if you have to reheat them do it under the grill to stop them going soggy.

Since you asked:

I am a single parent working full time from home.
I ran at lunch time and then went straight back to work until 5.15pm

Didn't want to shower and then go out again to get chips, so got them before shower.

DS2 is being brought back from football just before 7pm so we'll eat then.

I get precious little time on my own (not complaining - it's fine, but it's a treat) so wanted to use my time most efficiently.

I have just showered, will put the dinner on a baking tray under the grill (never heard that, but I will trust 'fish and chip shop guy') and whizz around doing jobs before DS2 gets home.

See, it all makes perfect sense.

Off I go then. I shall report back.

Thanks MN

Well, he came back 1/2hr earlier than expected so house was in chaos, no veg cooked and I'd literally JUST downloaded Michelle Obama's autobiog to listen to (that's what jinxed it!).

Dinner had been under a low grill for a bit and tasted fine.

Veg cooked? For fish and chips? Aren't people weird! Wink

AbsLikeThese · 21/11/2018 09:09

It was frozen mixed veg if that redeems me a little?

No mushy peas is all that’s allowed!

AbsLikeThese · 21/11/2018 09:13

Can mushy peas even be classified as vegetable?!

The only veg allowed with fish and chips is a battered sausage.

And I don't care that it's not even veg.
