chilli in slow cooker doesnt taste very 'chilli' at all

what can I do?
I've just chucked the kidney beans in for the last 30 minutes. Can I just add more chilli powder to the mix as is?
Or should I take it out of the slow cooker and add chilli powder to a portion in a saucepan before serving? It's fairly dry so I could get away with adding some more liquid if that will help with adding the chilli powder.
I'm just off out to collect DD but will look for your wonderful helpful answers as soon as I'm back.
TIA

Is it purely the heat/spiciness you are missing or would you say it is bland overall? If the former then yes you would be fine to just stir in something hot, chilli powder or flakes or we use a dot of hot sauce to pep things up at the end of cooking if the heat is a bit lacking. You can season with salt and pepper too which should help if it's a bit bland overall. I probably wouldn't add any more cumin or coriander or the other spices as I don't think they are very nice 'raw' and need to be cooked in more.

But if it's purely for some extra heat you should be fine, just go carefully with the chilli, lest in your enthusiasm you take it too far the other way and blow everyone's heads off!

thanks maxelly
I fried off some cumin seeds, more chilli power, paprika and coriander in a little oil and then transferred the chilli from the slow cooker to the same pan. plus I've added some chipotle sauce that I found and it's tasting pretty good now.
I'm so cross though as normally I do my own thing with chilli and it's fine but today I followed a new recipe and what do I get? bland mince with lumps of celery in it [sad}

by the way, I just change my name back to my original. I'd forgotten that I'd played with changing it the other day when I was going to do a heart wrenching post.
