I've just got a couple of bags of prawns out the freezer and one bag looks a bit powdery.

Are they still ok to use? This particularly bag has been in the freezer longer than the other but still in date (Sept 07).

I do worry about prawns - don't want to give DH's 92 year old great aunt food poisoning this afternoon, even though she's filthy rich .

things don't go off in the freezer.

Prawns when they go off, smell absolutely vile and turn a darker redder colour.

They shouldn't be off, if the freezer is the right temperature. But they may have a slightly different consistency. If you are freezing fresh prawns. put them in a container, fill it withis cold water and then freeze the container. They last much better.

Thanks, we ate them and all survived .
