I should have looked on Friday evening, I know .

I'm thinking about making houmous and taking that in with carrot sticks, cucumber, pitta. What do you think? How do you make houmous?

Any other ideas would be very welcome.

I think...

Thanks. Tahini? What's that, sorry to be so ignorant. Do you just bung it all together?

tahini is sesame paste - you might get away with sesame oil instead of tahini and olive oil?

just blend it all together but not too sure of quantities. Maybe just one clove of garlic to begin with and if it needs more you can stick another in and give it another whizz

good choice for snack I think.

Popcorn is healthy. If you feel like being lazier.

Or you could make tzatziki (grated cucumber, greek yogurt, herbs) and vegetables to dip.

I think you do need tahini. You can find it at any health food store.

Oh, I have a recipe somewhere for a broad bean spread, cooked broad beans, olive oil, and mint. Or a recipe for an aubergine spread, roast aubergine in oven with slivers of garlic in it, puree with olive oil (tastes good, but does look gross).

Make Franny's healthy banana cake (no sugar) - will amaze the teachers that cake can be healthy! Recipe is on Aitch's blog www.babyledweaning.com

remember wholegrains should be part of all meals in the day. Make a sanwich with lettuce, tomatoe and cheese, covers, wholegrain, veg, dairy and protein.

Fresh fruit salad?

colditz · 17/06/2007 08:51

Flapjack with mixed seeds and dried apricot

Thanks for all these ideas. After looking at Aitch's recipes I'm now thinking of cheesey vegetable nuggets.

They sell tahini in Morrisons.
