I thought I was being soooo organised for a dinner party next week, got the chicken breasts out of freezer, made nice marinade, chopped chick into cubes for kebabs, ready to bung in freezer all ready for the day.

Felt so cool and sophisticated

THEN BRAIN KICKS IN - YOU CAN'T REFREEZE the bloody thing.

I suppose I can't can I?

no, but you could cook it then freeze then re-cook when you need to use it (i think)

SenoraPostrophe · 15/06/2007 23:09

if it was fresh when you froze it then you can, although "they" say you can't. the problem is the total amount of time spent at no frozen temperatures, not the process of freezing and thawing itself.

I wouldn't risk it with chicken.
Unless you want to poison your guests

Ceolas · 15/06/2007 23:14

I wouldn't with chicken either.

yeah, I thought of that.. cooking it and freezing again (apparently that's alright) but then will I be able to pass them off as freshly bbq'd kebabs on the day? Not only that, but when you reheat food you're supposed to cook it so thoroughly right thru and all that milarky....and on a bbq too!!

I didn't know that SenoraP.

How annoying?

I would keep it in the fridge then have a trial dinner with it tomorrow night.

dolally · 15/06/2007 23:28

I think that's what's going to happen... dh and dc's will be having kebabs everynight this week for dinner!!

BishyBarneyBee · 15/06/2007 23:35

eat the chicken tomorrow to try out what it willbe like and then go and buy some more.

update... cooked the dratted kebabs tonight, wondered if I could then freeze them and pass them off as freshly cooked next week. Decided to give to the family instead - went down very well, dd2 said they were too spicy and then ate two large ones. Dh said they were tasteless and smothered his in sweet chilli sauce.

But anyway now they've nearly all gone so I'll have to buy some more and start again!
