Have got my first pork shank (I normally buy lamb and stick in toms, red wine, lots of veg and stock) How is the best way to cook this?

In the slow cooker? or Roast it?

Also if i roast it the net weight is 1.250kg. It says to cook for 35mins per 450g + 30 mins so is that 100 mins plus soon for the extra bit? I wanted to eat tomorrow around 5pm but not sure if i will get back in time to put it on?

I would cook it for about 2 hours - but give it a prod after 1.5 hours to see if any pink juices are still coming out. Never heard of a pork shank, but know of trotters and hand and spring joints (foreleg).
