So I want to add lentils etc to my diet for protein and I'm looking for really tasty recipes.

I made a lovely vegetable soup which was tasty but I need some more recipes. I'm thinking curries spicy soups anything else that's nice.

Nigella's split yellow pea soup is lovely (she puts frankfurters in before serving but I don't)

Finely chop a carrot, celery stick and leek. Strip a few stems of fresh thyme of their leaves. Chop a handful of sage leaves. Chop a mild red chilli.
Heat a splash of olive oil and fry the carrot, celery and leek in a wok or frying pan until soft. Add the herbs and chilli and fry for a further few minutes. Add a tin of (rinsed) cooked lentils, a stock pot (or a tablespoon of bottled stock) and a splash of water and stir until heated through. Add a couple of tablespoons of creme fraiche and stir through. We eat this as a side dish for fried chicken or steak but it's really delicious on its own and would be a good main dish (perhaps with more veggies - wilted spinach would work well and tomatoes might work too)

This! I make it all the time. I usually add a bit of ginger and chilli too.

Fry off onion, garlic, tomato purée. Add tinned chopped toms, water, Italian herbs, salt and pepper, jar of drained chopped sun dried tomatoes, and red lentils. Bring to boil and simmer 20 min or so. Can have with pasta or tonight I simmered it longer and had it like a stew. Lovely.

I love the ready cooked packs of puy lentils. So easy.

eg. Veg haloumi bake:
Roast veg eg peppers courgettes aubergines mushrooms red onion. When mostly cooked add some puy lentils and tinned tomatoes and slices of haloumi on top. Return to the oven until bubbling and the haloumi is browned as much as you like! Serve with salad and bread.

I also often add a pack to some fried courgette ( allotment glut!) and tomato (and LOTS of garlic) and have with pasta.

I’ve done a puy lentil, beetroot and Quorn sausage casserole that was very tasty and filling.

Puy lentils also work well for stuffed peppers.

A handful of lentils in a pan of rice is good.
