How is the best way to grow fresh herbs?

What condition do you need to grow herbs?
Any tips please.

Depends what herbs you want to grow.

Rosemary and thyme seem fairly robust. Basil is tender and gets eaten by slugs/snails anway. Parsley seems to get eaten too. Mint is easy peasy but needs to be contained since it's very invasive and chives are easy too.

I would suggest in a pot on a patio or sunny windowsill - can't think of anything else. My FIL is the one you want to speak to (if you have a few hours to spare )
