How much would you pay...

Just made this the cake for my daughter, everyone keeps telling me I should go professional. I’ve been making cupcakes for years but as gruelling as it I actually enjoyed it.. icing is my downfall but I’m sure with a few courses I can get the hang of it.
I’d just want to know how much people would be willing to pay for a cake like this....
(It is rainbow cake)

Yip I'd say 45-50 if the customer paid for the dolls.

If the decoration was a bit more.... well... colourful maybe, then I'd pay £80. I paid £65 for a slightly smaller kids cake.

How many does it serve? I paid £45 recently for a similar looking cake from M&S, but without your decorations. LoL dolls increase the price too.
So I’d say at least £60-80. Anything less would be criminal.

Out of interest, if you added up the cost of the items and then charged an extra £5 per hour you spent making it, how much would that come to?

£35. You pay for the work put into it, and in reality it's a basic buttercreamed cake with stuff on it, if it was decorated with icing etc then maybe £45 at a push. And obviously you can decorate a cake to make it look amazing but if it doe need to taste good too!

Love this cake! It's fab! Probably £50 because the decorations aren't handmade and therefore you won't have spent time doing those. That is also assuming LOL dolls aren't included!

My DD would be in heaven with this cake!

My cake is amazing... tooting my own horn.... but they are, but I know what you mean about looking good but tasting horrible, we’ve witnessed this many times.

I don't think it's good enough standard to be professional/charge for it, sorry. It's a not very smoothly iced cake with lots of pre made decorations on it, any bakery could do that for a lot cheaper than a standalone baker could.

You need to calculate all of your costs, supplies, electricity, insurance, etc before including the hourly rate you need/wish to achieve and be realistic with how long it will take you to bake and decorate.

I wouldn’t. It’s a really lovely cake, but it definitely looks homemade. Please don’t get me wrong, it’s fab - but not pro.

Think carefully before going professional. People don’t understand the work that goes into these things. I paid £65 recently for a completely hand decorated cake, fully iced, with hand made decorations (sewing themed) which was smaller than that.

You also need to take area into account - I’m in a fairly cheap area.

Not much. As a PP said it’s a basic buttercream cake with lots of pre-made stuff on it (and those biscuits would turn soggy overnight too).

Around 15 quid from a supermarket for better finish then put a few bits on top

The market is flooded with WAHMs flogging cakes. I honestly wouldn't bother.
