Going on Eurostar journey soon. For daughter's 21st birthday. Want to take a special picnic on board. Taking champagne & sandwiches. Suggestions for nice fillings please & other stuff to go with it that's not too messy. Thanks.

Smoked salmon and cucumber or cream cheese
Brie & cranberry
Harissa chicken
Roast beef

Dips like hummus, salsa etc with crudités
Little cakes or macaroons or mini tarts
Strawberries/ tropical fruit

Pate isn't at all messy for a sandwich filling. Also ham and mustard, cream cheese and pastrami.
Salmon and horseradish tartlets realfood.tesco.com/recipes/salmon-and-horseradish-tartlets.html
For special picnics we like mini battenburg, jam tarts, cherry Bakewell and little squares of millionaires shortbread.

Layered jamjar salads are a great thing for a train picnic. Get a jamjar (and a fork) for each person and make colourful layers of salad ingredients of various colours done like strata. Eg a simple Greek one might have layers of cucumber, tomato couscous feta and olives. There are thousands of possible combination of hundreds of potential ingredients obviously.

Individual jellies with chopped fruit set in

Cocktail sausages

Hard boiled quail eggs and celery salt

Duck, lettuce, cucumber, hoi-sin wraps

Caesar salad wraps

Plastic glasses with prosecco

M&S cold canapés
Cold sausages
Pre sliced bread and butter
Mini cakes like brownies that won't crumble

Nothing fishy/eggy that is going to smell.

Don't forget to stop into a little bakery on your return trip and get a train picnic for the way back - that's one of the best parts! A fresh baguette, some good cheeses, a fancy cake and a little bottle of fizz will round the trip off nicely Smile

Thanks all, some great suggestions.
