I've accidentally ordered 10 million tins of beans

Well maybe a bit of an exaggeration...but they are taking over my kitchen! My local food bank doesn't need any at the moment so I am hoping someone can give me a recipe to help use them up. Extra points for anything I can do in the slow cooker and freeze!

Sausage and bean casserole (really good in a slow cooker)
I add a tin to cottage pie

Knittedfairies · 06/09/2018 18:01

Just how many tins did you get in your order?

UserHistory · 06/09/2018 18:05

Consider it fortunate as Brexit is looming.

They may be worth a fortune on the black(bean) market in a few months.

TroysMammy · 06/09/2018 18:10

Is your bath panel loose? You can store your tins behind it. Plenty of unused space there.

Namethecat · 06/09/2018 18:12

How many tins ?

43percentburnt · 06/09/2018 18:13

Bean and cheese toasties.

EggysMom · 06/09/2018 18:16

I want to know how many tins too! I'm thinking maybe 66 instead of 6?

DunesOfSand · 06/09/2018 18:17

Post them to me! I can't find British baked beans out here at the moment. All Americian yacky ones. Im guessing the ship will arrive in the next few weeks, and suddenly tins will be available everywhere, but currently the shelves are bare, and im down to my last tin Sad

Breakfast pie - fill a pie casing with a layer of sausage meat, bacon rashers, egg, beans and top with potato scones

hidengosqueak · 06/09/2018 22:08

Send to Australia and America my friends abroad go nuts over beans when they visit

NannyR · 06/09/2018 22:11

Don't most supermarket delivery services take unwanted items back for a refund when they bring your next delivery? Ocado definitely do.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 07/09/2018 08:05

They do nanny, unfortunately my Husband noticed nothing out of the ordinary when 9 packs of 4 rather than 9 tins arrived in the shop Grin

Baked bean lasagne! Was a favourite when I was a student. Fry off onion, garlic and diced carrot, mix with beans, layer up with grated cheese and lasagne pasta, cheese sauce on top only. Bake 40 minutes. Really tasty!!

Cowboy hotpot (this is lovelier that it might sound)

1 onion, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
1 sweet potato or 2 carrots diced
2 tbsp oil
4oz green beans, diced
1 can BAKED BEANS
1 can sweetcorn
1 tbsp tomato purée
1 tsp paprika
4oz cheese, cubed
1lb potatoes thinly sliced

Fry onion, pepper and sweet potato in oil. Add green beans, BAKED BEANS, sweetcorn + water from tin, tom purée, paprika, season and simmer 5 mins. Transfer to an oven proof dish and cover with potatoes. Add some knobs of butter. Freeze at this point or pop in oven 190 / gas 5 for 40 mins until the potato is cooked.

or pop to the preppers thread

I would just go through them as normal - if you eat 2 tins a week you'll be through them by Christmas ;-)

Barbecue Beans (a recipe once given to my Mum by an American couple):

Chopped and softened onions in a frying pan
Tin of Baked Beans (obvs!)
Spoonful of Dijon Mustard (or any that you have but Dijon is best)
Couple of dessert spoons of Worcestershire Sauce
Tiny pinch of Garlic, salt & pepper

36 tins for a family of 6 is doable before September's out!
