How long can you keep used cooking oil for?

We probably have homemade chips about every ten days and I keep the oil to reuse for this.

How long do you think it's advisable to keep it for or how many times can I re-use it?

What type of oil is it?
I wouldn't reuse any oil. Oil chemical compounds change when heated (can become toxic) and it's also a bit gross.

If you're really insistent to keeping it there are some tips in this article.
