Hi
I’m not really a baker, but I am not bad at decorating them, so I’m planning to buy one of the ready made ones for my husband’s 40th. Are any of them that you would recommend? He’d probably prefer a plain sponge rather than chocolate or fruitcake. I don’t want to spend loads, maybe up to £15, and it only needs to feed about 10 people max.
Also, what are the best before dates like on them? Can I buy it a bit in advance?
Thank you Smile

Sweet Success have a great range with a good shelf life, I’ve used them lots of times.

I bought a plain sponge one with jam and cream in middle and plain white icing sheet over the top and sides from ASDA and decorated it myself - DD was mad on Club Penguin at the time and I popped a Lighthouse and igloo plus mini penguins etc on top and it was amazing if I do say so myself.

Also supermarkets do ones that can have a photo put over the top in icing but you could just buy the cake with no photo option. They have a good date on them too so look a couple of weeks before you need it as they do go quick.

Thank you both for your help. Sweet success looks great. The asda one I had before, but I didn’t enjoy the taste of the cake very much.
