I sent dh out for peanut butter and he came back with a jar of Sunpat smooth stuff

Obviously we can't eat it on sandwiches, so what can I do with it? Any ideas for cooking with it, or making biscuits with it or something?

why can't you eat it on sandwiches?

SauerKraut · 01/06/2007 14:08

Smear it all over chicken breasts and roast in the oven. Yum.

Ceebee74 · 01/06/2007 14:08

Was just going to ask the same thing - why not on sandwiches? I do.

Nigella has one for peanut butter squares covered in chocolate. We made, was so sweet our hair stood on end and our teeth zinged for weeks.
Do you want me to go find recipie?

MissGolightly · 01/06/2007 14:09

you could make chicken satay?

Or peanut butter cookies? Nigella has a recipe I think, I have never tried them as I am not a big fan of biscuits but a friend tells me they are nice.

Greensleeves · 01/06/2007 14:09

Because it is condensed diarrhoea from the last syphilitic donkey in Hell, Ceolas

Ceolas · 01/06/2007 14:11

Oh I see...

I was thinking the Nigella super sweet stuff too.

schneebly · 01/06/2007 14:11

2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 tsp salt

2 to 3 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda

roll into balls then flatten with fork.
bake at 350F for 8 to 10 minutes

BreeVanDerCamp · 01/06/2007 14:12

With pastaboak

Greensleeves · 01/06/2007 14:14

Oh how I wish I had not clicked on that pasta link LGJ

DH has a horror of satay (bad experience being made to eat tinned chicken satay by uber-Catholic Mum, she served it up at every mealtime for about a week until he eventually forced it down)

The peanut butter cookies look OK though, the boys would happily eat those.

Biiiiiig blob of it in with the cheese sauce next time you make cauliflower cheese. Add pine nuts for texture maybe?

fennel · 01/06/2007 14:40

Feed it to the children and look the other way shuddering. I bet they'll eat it.

More to the point, Sunpat is the evil Nestle.

Greensleeves · 01/06/2007 14:43

I know!! Will he never learn.....

It looks unnervingly like baby poo too. I have got used to the stuff with flecks of skin in it, which ds1 calls "sprouting peanut butter", because to him everything that comes from the health food shop is "sprouting"

I could keep it on a top shelf and use it up on fussy brown-bread-refusenik playdates, I suppose.

My mum had a shelf of stuff like this reserved for a game called "yukky mixes".

Basically me and my sister were allowed to make disgusting concoctions from things like turmaric, cocoa, self-raising flour, red lentils, brown rice, out of date ketchup, etc etc. We presented it like a cookery programme, stirred it all up in a bowl and giggled at how horrid the result was. Sometimes we baked it for added effect.

Perhaps introduce a variation of this with smooth peanut butter as the star ingredient?

fennel · 01/06/2007 14:49

Save it for halloween and use it as a filling for runny pooh cake. Or mud pie if you want to be a bit more socially acceptable.

Greensleeves · 01/06/2007 14:50

It's a good idea, but the stuff smells

Greensleeves · 01/06/2007 14:51

Runny poo cake is a FAB idea, I may just have to save that idea for dh's next birthday cake!!

A sort of confectionary tribute to the Gluten Intolerant Pizza Addict that he is

Change it at the shop next time citing political and taste boycotts.

I loathe the slimy smooth stuff too.

MissGolightly · 01/06/2007 14:53

part of the point is the smell - you have to make the most poisonous smelling/looking/tasting (if you dare) mixture.
