I have a gammon!

What to do?
Bought a gammon and am planning a "gammon weekend" (you're all welcome! Grin) - but what to serve it with other than potatoes and veg when it's hot out the oven.
Have greedy husband, 2.5yo and 9mo baby who eats everything, just mushed a bit. Also am trying to up my veg/salad/greens to lose some weight.
So far I have:
Gammon hot with mixed veg and white and sweet potato wedges
Cold with salad/quiche.

I need a 'mumsnet chicken' out of this to avoid doing a 'big shop' before payday!

risotto ?

PolkerrisBeach · 24/07/2018 20:35

We had gammon tonight with mash and root veg. We have some leftover which I'm planning on making into a pasta bake with peas.

Serve with chips/roast pots (chips better!), cauliflower and white sauce. And cider gravy!

MsPavlichenko · 24/07/2018 20:38

If it isn't too hot is delish with mac n cheese. Or even mixed through.

fourpawswhite · 24/07/2018 20:41

Macaroni cheese absolutely.

Softpebbles · 24/07/2018 20:41

In an omelette?

TyneTeas · 24/07/2018 20:45

Might not be quite what you want in this weather but leftover gammon in a tomato sauce topped with potato wedges and cheese is pretty good

Thanks guys - tyneteas I wonder if I could do your recipe as stuffed potato skins.
Macaroni cheese is soooo tempting but not exactly going to help me shift my weight! Has made me think of maybe cauliflower cheese with it though ~although it's nowhere near as gorge-worthy~

Cube it and put in a salad with chickpeas, cucumber, tomatoes, grated carrot and red pepper, lemon juice, mayo.

Lentil and ham soup.
Quiche.
Omelette.
Tortilla.
Pasta carbonara.

Fry slices and eat with a full English.
