I don't eat them they're yuck but DH and DS love them.
When I cook any mushrooms I peel them but recipes never seem to mention peeling them.
Am I right or wrong

my mum used to peel them in the 80's, I haven't ever peeled mushrooms.

I don't wash them as they absorb the water and go soggy.

If they were very muddy I might wipe them with a damp cloth but otherwise I just pick the odd bit of loam off and cook them.

You can peel mushrooms?!

MsHomeSlice · 25/07/2018 17:44

i don't bother if they are little and fresh, but if they are the great big flat ones I do, and as a PP said, if they are a bit elderly from being in the fridge a bit too long.

I just wipe them if they’re really fresh, peel them if they’ve been around a few days.

How do you peel something which has no peel? Confused. It’s not a potato.

Baubletrouble43 · 25/07/2018 19:58

Nope. I do pull the stalks out and Chuck them though because they give me the yuks

I do the same as Thewoolly but I know most don't peel. Maybe I should change my ways. My dh was moaning about me peeling them recently I told him that I didn't have mushroom in my life for someone that wasn't a funghi. Smile
