Blackcurrant glut - Creme de cassis

I appear to have a glut of blackcurants so after making jam I want to try and make Creme de cassis. Has anyone tried making this? And have a recipe that’s any good?

TIA.

Soak in vodka for a few weeks. Make sugar syrup, cool and sweeten vodka to taste.

Thanks for that. I'd bought vodka today thinking it would do from all the recipes I've googled. Though the one I found said it takes 8 months to make! 5 months stewing blackcurrant said and then another 3 for the sugar syrup. I was hoping to drink it by Christmas!

In this hot weather it won't take long. Freeze the blackcurrants first too, it helps break them down a bit.

Though the cassis might not be ready by Christmas, you should be able to strain out lots of the berries then and use them as a fantastic boozy topping for ice-cream or trifle. So it's still worth making now, even if you only drink it next year. Or, if you intend to give it as presents, you could still do so, but label the bottles "Ready to drink April 2019".

Thanks for that booze berries sounds very appealing! The berries and vodka look very nice at the moment too quite tempted to keep some as blackcurrant vodka.
