I'm going to invest in a chest freezer and fill it with healthy meals for me, DH and our 5 and 3 year olds in order to take some of the pressure off when the babies arrive in September. The girls aren't keen on spicy foods and casseroles can be a bit hit and miss.

Ideas I have so far are:
Spag bol
Lasagne
Shepherds pie
Fish pie Hmm

Looking for your best ideas please!!

  • Bolognase
  • Chilli (my eldest doesn't like spicy food so I either freeze her a spice free version or do a very mild one)
  • Proper HM chicken soup from the carcass after a roast
  • Pulled pork
  • HM Quiche
  • Biscuits (nice hm ones are always appreciated post birth)

I've always done batch cooking before my babies (and will do this time too) and usually try and do about 21 dinners. It then covered paternity leave and the week after. During this period DH does another load of batch cooking which then buys us some more time.

I also stock the cupboards with easy food, eg part baked rolls, tins of soup, pasta sauce, pasta. We also make sure we have lots of fresh fruit accessible to stop the naughty snacking, which is so easy with a newborn when you're tired.
