sprigs

The word is sprigs

Kathyis6incheshigh · 28/05/2007 22:47

How much lavender does the recipe take? I would love to try it - or the shortbread. But imagine it could be v nasty if I used too much.

Aefondkiss · 28/05/2007 23:32

lavender shortbread, I googled it, because I have packed my recipe books

"2 tablespoons very finely chopped lavender florets (fresh or dried)"

Aefondkiss · 28/05/2007 23:36

I can't remember how much was in the recipe I used but it was not over powering

Kathyis6incheshigh · 29/05/2007 09:44

Merci, Aefondkiss.

They sound absolutely revolting, but I've got loads of lavender in my garden and the kids are bored, so am willing to give them a go.

Anyone got a recipe?

Aefondkiss · 29/05/2007 11:04

Lavender Shortbread

1 cup (2 sticks)butter, softened

2 cups flour

1/2 cup superfine sugar

1 tablespoon dried lavender

Sift the flour. Beat the butter and sugar in a mixer until creamy. Add the flour and beat until combined. Add the lavender and beat just to distribute through the dough.

Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic and chill until firm, at least an hour.

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Roll out the dough to about 1/4" thickness and cut desired shapes. Place on parchment lined baking sheets and bake until just golden, about 18 minutes.

Aefondkiss · 29/05/2007 11:04

your welcome Kate

Aefondkiss · 29/05/2007 11:06

if you google you might find a better recipe... the one I have(packed) uses fresh Lavender, you can get lavender cooking essence too! I haven't tried it.

Aefondkiss · 29/05/2007 11:07

it is a very subtle flavour giantsquirrel, I think, but I like lavender and this shortbread is delish, honest
