finely chop an onion (and a red chilli if your kids can take it)
mix with mince (stuff labelled 'lean steak mince' is the best - don't use 'extra lean' as it dries out too much when you cook it)
shape into burgers
grill

rislip · 25/05/2007 13:36

You can use turkey mince too, it's really lean.

MrsBadger · 25/05/2007 13:47

does dry out more though - and you can't serve them pink in the middle like you can with beef.

I do as below but sometimes add in finely diced onion, tomato.

Lullabyloo · 25/05/2007 13:58

Heat oven to 200
Lightly saute one onion & one clove of garlic till softened.
Blitz two chicken breasts, zest & juice of one lemon, spoonful of bouillon powder & the onion & garlic till combined.
Make into 8 burger shapes & place on foil lined baking tray.
Bake for 10 mins then turn over & bake for further 5 mins.

Voila!

I make pork and apple burgers.

Lean Pork, apples, onions and sage, with some brown bread and an egg to bind them together.

Smashing!

canmummy · 25/05/2007 14:07

Mix together:

250g (9oz) lean minced beef
2 medium courgettes, grated
1 large onion, chopped finely,
2 crushed garlic cloves
1 medium red pepper, deseeded and chopped
2 slices bread made into breadcrumbs
1 egg

Fry with tiny amount of oil or chargrill/bbq.

Love these as you're getting some veg in as well (makes about 8 btw)
