you make tuna pasta with mayo?

fishie · 24/05/2007 12:08

yes it will be very nice, cucumber/onion tuna yum. i use yog instead of mayo for most things. put some oil in to help it if it is a bit 'dry'.

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:09

how else?

tuna mayonnaise (sweetcorn, chopped peppers optional)

mix in cooked pasta

et voila ... tuna pasta

You could, alternatively, put the tuna etc in a tomato sauce.

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:10

its very nice by the way

aha pasta salad - I was thinking of pasta bake

iota · 24/05/2007 12:11

like mi I was thinking of tomato sauce

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:11

what's pasta bake?

OP posts:
wurlywurly · 24/05/2007 12:11

salad cream?

iota · 24/05/2007 12:13

pasta bake - tuna, tomatoes, pasta and cheese on top, baked in the oven

wurlywurly · 24/05/2007 12:13

thanks iota I know what we are having for lunch

motherinferior · 24/05/2007 12:13

You put it in the oven, put cheese on top and (this is the important bit) bake it.

lou33 · 24/05/2007 12:14

nevre used mayo in tuna pasta, i just put it in a tomato sauce

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:14

gawd that doesn't sound much like 'oh bugger, its nearly lunchtime, what the hell can I give DD and her friend for lunch then seeing as the fridge is rather empty apart from a couple of bottles of prosseco' food though

that sounds rather like 'ahh its 10am shall I consider what to give my loved ones for their lunchtime in 2 hours'

it would've been pasta and pesto but the pesto had that blue fur on it

i'd beg to differ.. wouldn't call that pasta salad. I'd agree with Twiglett that it is "tuna pasta". To me tuna pasta BAKE involves either tomatoey sauce or white/cheesy sauce. Pasta salad is, er, cold

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:15

luckily we have fabs in the freezer so pudding is sorted

heres a proper recipe for pasta bake:www.bigoven.com/160024_TunaPastaBake_recipe.html

iota · 24/05/2007 12:18

hmmm have never thought of making hot pasta with tuna mayo - but I suppose it's the same principle as tuna mayo on a jacket potato

alittlebitshy · 24/05/2007 12:18

did you expect this to turn into a definition debate twig?

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:19

s'actually rather yummy with the warm pasta and cold tuna

don't think I could be bothered with the pasta bake if I'm honest, pasta to me is fast food (unless I'm making roasted veg lasagne in which case it takes all frickin' day)

OP posts:
iota · 24/05/2007 12:20

so alittlebit shy - is teh tuna hot as well? surely if you put hot pasta in with cold tuna mayo it all cools and it becomes pasta salad?

iota · 24/05/2007 12:20

x posted with Twig - so that's warm pasta salad

motherinferior · 24/05/2007 12:23

I think you should go and make your own mayo

Twiglett · 24/05/2007 12:25

you make mayo out of ducks?

OP posts:
motherinferior · 24/05/2007 12:26

Twig, why don't you just slosh some olive oil on it all? Tell them it's Tuna Salad.
